To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter to indicate my support for the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform. This organization thinks strategically and works effectively to make abortion unthinkable and I believe it is important to support its endeavors.

One of the most essential aspects of CCBR’s work is to use visual campaigns, in particular the Genocide Awareness Project (GAP) and the Reproductive "Choice" Campaign (RCC). These projects present the truth about abortion to the public. The use of graphic images may be controversial but is effective in changing how the public understands social issues, particularly social injustice. For example, this is why graphic images were used by advocates against child labour or by those seeking to educate about slavery and the holocaust. Being a grandchild of a Jewish woman whose life ended in the gas chambers of Auschwitz, I understand the value of the photograph. Violent images were used to wake up the world as to what was happening. Graphic images are even used by the Canadian government to discourage smoking.

In the same way, graphic images, such as those used by CCBR, must be used to change how the public thinks about abortion. By taking the truth of abortion to universities and public streets, they force the culture to confront the truth of its actions, a truth that it tries to keep hidden. In this way, CCBR exposes the harsh reality of our apathy towards abortion. As Jesus says, "everyone who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed" (John 3:20).

The comparison of abortion to historical atrocities is also powerful and insightful. The public must see that though there are differences between abortion and the Holocaust or the slave trade, there are too many similarities for citizens with a conscience to tolerate this injustice. Rabbi Jacob Neusner, a professer of religion at the University of South Florida, Tampa and Bard College, New York wrote in the October 26, 1998, issue of Christianity Today:

...[H]ow is mass abortion in the State of Israel such as is practiced by the secular (but not religious) portion of the Israeli population not comparable to mass murder of Jewish Children in German Europe?

As the numbers mount up, when do considerations of volume enter in and validate calling the annihilation of millions of lives a Holocaust? I think they do. Here is a Holocaust today. Every Jewish child born in the State of Israel is a survivor of the Holocaust sustained by Israeli law.

The difference is, Germany has acknowledged its shame. But for the annual annihilation of tens of thousands of Jewish children, the State of Israel acknowledges nothing.

I believe CCBR is part of a prophetic ministry that this generation needs to hear. They are proclaiming truth to the world and are prepared to face persecution for it.

I am also encouraged that young people have chosen to serve Christ by intervening on behalf of the orphaned and fatherless still in their mothers’ wombs. I pray that you may also consider supporting this life-saving work.

Sincerely yours in Christ,
